In process clay and acrylic.

At home (Do it yourself) Surgery kit! Creepy huh? Will come with numbing cream, antibiotics, needle and thread, scalpel, scissors, rubber gloves, blood rag...

Did you know the most common self-surgery is the removal of the testicles?

JEFFREY EUGENIDES

"Emotions, in my experience, aren’t covered by single words. I don’t believe in “sadness,” “joy,” or “regret.” Maybe the best proof that the language is patriarchal is that it oversimplifies feeling. I’d like to have at my disposal complicated hybrid emotions, Germanic train-car constructions like, say, “the happiness that attends disaster.” Or: “the disappointment of sleeping with one’s fantasy.” I’d like to show how “intimations of mortality brought on by aging family members” connects with “the hatred of mirrors that begins in middle age.” I’d like to have a word for “the sadness inspired by failing restaurants” as well as for “the excitement of getting a room with a minibar.” I’ve never had the right words to describe my life, and now that I’ve entered my story, I need them more than ever."

Awesome artist alert...

The Denver art museums Embrace exhibit is over now (I think?) but it was a show worth going to over and over, staying all day staring at, and sneaking into the museum bathroom to sleep there so you can sleep near the artworks.... But I really can't stop thinking about this Shinique smith piece so i thought I must share it...

I'm not entirely sure what the artist was going for but I can't get my own twisted ideas out of my head. I've got this crime scene idea that it looks like a blue mangled body hung by a noose with blood splattered all over the wall... there's even a bird which could symbolize freedom from the material world!

But anyhow, she's an artist worth checking out especially if your into graffiti, I think she has a real street art quality to her work.
